Indonesia announced its first Covid-19 confirmation case on 2nd March 2020. Currently the numbers have risen to 227 in less than two weeks, with 19 fatalities making Indonesia as a country with the highest death toll among Southeast Asia countries hit by the Corona virus to date.

Indonesiaā€™s case fatality rate of 8.37% beats Italy and Iran, and is well above the global average of 4.07% according to the World Health Organization. Most of reported cases happened in Jakarta with 30 cases, followed by other provinces in Indonesia.

The increasing number of COVID-19 rose quickly in Indonesia because the country was just entering the first phase of the contagion. Transportation Minister of Indonesia, Mr. Budi Karya Sumadi has been tested positive COVID-19 which forced dozens of journalist in attendance to also undergo a medical check-up after interviewing the minister.Ā

Indonesia is set to suspend its visa exemption policy for all countries for one month and expand restrictions for people based on their travel history. The suspension also includes exemption for short-stay visits, visa on arrival, diplomatic visa, and all travel restrictions.Ā

Donations to this campaign will help distribute more hygiene kits including reusable masks, hand sanitizers, and disinfectants to the needy

GlobalSadaqah’s strategic partner, Dompet Dhuafa, as a Humanitarian Organization has started to implement prevention measures such as spraying public places with disinfectants and providing health masks and hand sanitizers for those in need.

However, there are still many people out there who are not protected from the virus and there are many more places that need to be sprayed with disinfectant. Hygiene kits need to be distributed among the poor since those products are hard to get in this current situation.

The Dompet Dhuafa team will be focusing on locations that are classified as areas of high risk:Ā

1. Distribute Hygiene Kits to 350Ā  Beneficiaries – $2264
– Healthy Masks 1 Pack (5 pieces)
– Hand Sanitizer 100 ml

2. Spraying Disinfectant in 30 Mosques – $3750
– Disinfectant Spray
– N95 Masks
– Protective Gloves
– Disposable Protective Coverall
– Spraying Tools (5 units)Ā

Skyrocketing prices of the health mask, hand-sanitizer, and disinfectants has left many people vulnerable to the virus.

Donations to this campaign will help distribute more hygiene kits including reusable masks, hand sanitizers, and disinfectants in the affected cities. Even though we are stuck at home, our donations can help and save the lives of many of our needy brothers and sisters in these testing times.
